Sarajevo is a capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina and it's located in geographical centre of the country. River Miljacka runs through the city surrounded by five mountains - Jahorina, Bjelašnica, Igman, Treskavica i Trebević. The city is famous for its traditional religious diversity, with adherents of Islam, Orthodoxy, Catholicism and Judaism, coexisting there for centuries. Due to its long and rich history of religious diversity and coexistence Sarajevo has often been called "Jerusalem of Europe".
Sarajevo was the first city in Europe and the second city in the world to have an electric tram running through the city. Walking through Sarajevo, you will encounter many religious influences and varied architectural styles which have accumulated throughout the past. The best way to see and get to know Sarajevo is by foot as you cannot get to the central old town any other way and you wouldn’t want to miss any of the cultural fine points hiding throughout the whole city. The cultural history is not so much experienced in Museums but it is immersed in the streets and alleys throughout the whole city, something new is always to be revealed around each street corner.
Nowadays, Sarajevo is a regional art centre, with its Sarajevo Film Festival, visited by many famous people from film industry, including Bono Vox, John Malkovic, Nick Nolte, Daniel Craig, Michael Moore, Micky Rourke and Kevin Spacey.
